Switching Frequency Selection for eVTOL Weight Optimization
All EV powertrain motors need an inverter to make them run. Increasing the switching frequencies leads to smaller components and a higher power density. The latter is especially important for aerial transport applications. With higher power density, greater propulsive power will be obtained for lower mass. However, increasing the switching frequencies results in other compromises to be made. What parameters should you take into account to determine the ideal frequency?
